Updating my 70 s ranch home

This home was built in the 1970's and was in need of some updating. The brick was in good condition, but needed a dark olive taupe to spruce it up.I’ve worked in this city (because it is a city in its own right) for years, and I always took some pride in living somewhere else.I’d tell people where I worked with a smirk, quick to add that I didn’t actually But here I am now, and I’m damned if I’m going to be all hangdog and sheepish about where we live–or spend the years we’ll be here wishing I were somewhere else.Simplicity and sustainability are ideas we like a lot. It’s just a different kind of old-school cool (now that the ’70s were 40 years ago).

A stainless steel range hood telegraphs modern style.Well, the house stayed on the market for a while until Amy and Darian Cochran bought it in June. Both realtors, the pair felt that the local market was lacking in older homes under 0,000 that had been updated with quality finishes. We’re a financially-stretched, stirred family with members who need both proximity and space. So, yeah: We bought a big, boxy split-entry house in the suburbs.
